5/21/2023 0 Comments War for the oaksThis can be attributed at least in part to the typically modest pace of the Kentucky Oaks. No fewer than 11 of the last 15 Oaks winners were racing within 3 ½ lengths of the lead after the opening half-mile, including seven fillies who were racing in first or second place. Positional speed is typically an important weapon in the Kentucky Oaks. Here are eight to keep in mind as the big race approaches: The good news is, examining the recent history of the Kentucky Oaks reveals a number of trends to help identify the most likely winner. The Kentucky Oaks typically draws a large field of talented fillies from around the country, and handicapping the race isn’t always easy. Its long and rich roster of winners is dotted with important names, including recent champions Rachel Alexandra, Blind Luck, Untapable, Abel Tasman, Monomoy Girl, and Malathaat. Just like the Derby, the Oaks has been held every year since 1875. One day prior to the fabled first Saturday in May, a deep field of three-year-old fillies will race 1 1/8 miles in the $1.25 million Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks. The Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve isn’t the only major horse race taking place at Churchill Downs this spring.

Spenser is a rake, a confirmed bachelor, and falls head over heels in lust with Helen when he first spies her at a party. In between searching for the lamp, she is the owner of an inn that pays for her living expenses quite nicely. Helen is a big girl with a deep interest in a magical lamp. The Courtship is a wonderful historical romance about independent widow Helen Mayberry and a confirmed bachelor Spenser Heatherington, and a magical lamp. Her characters are always strong and likable, and the suspenseful plots keep you reading. She's an excellent writer, who mixes romance and adventure seamlessly. The first Catherine Coulter book I read and the one that definitely got me hooked on all of her books. First to succumb are two men fishing in the swamp. The gist of this story is that out of nowhere, a zombie pandemic sweeps through the county. In WTZ Unchained, that episode comes back to haunt her. At one point in that book, she bit a man who was trying to kill her and then killed him and left his body deep in the swamp. The plot of WTZ Unchained reaches back to the previous book in which Angel's addiction to the V12 zombie drug damaged her zombie parasite. Rowland does insert some review paragraphs into the narrative to remind readers of past events, but those bits and pieces of background information will not be enough if you haven't read the preceding novels. If you have not read the previous novels in this series, you have little chance of figuring out who's who and what's what. MY REVIEW: Warning: This is a series with a large cast of characters and an ongoing story arc that relies heavily on past events. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Grave peril book“A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. “What’s not to like about this series?.It takes the best elements of urban fantasy, mixes it with some good old-fashioned noir mystery, tosses in a dash of romance and a lot of high-octane action, shakes, stirs, and serves.”- SF Site The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.”- Booklist (starred review) “Butcher.spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. “One of the most enjoyable marriages of the fantasy and mystery genres on the shelves.”- Cinescape “Superlative.”- Publishers Weekly (starred review) Hamilton and Tanya Huff will love this series.”- Midwest Book Review “Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Philip Marlowe.”- Entertainment Weekly They are infused with realism and humanity and warn Of literary work featuring well-crafted stories with focused scenes and This book is a gorgeous addition to other books by the famous, well-versed, and incredibly talented Laughter, and smelly horses, which also won the Independent Publisher BookĪward. She urged me to share it with the world - and alongside three other secret novels, with the support of readers worldwide it grew into the biggest Kickstarter campaign of all time. I started writing this in secret, as a novel just for my wife. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death? The illustrations are also absolutely gorgeous (shoutout to Howard Lyon for that). Not only that, its a colorful world that just captures your imagination. The worldbuilding here, as typical of Brandon Sanderson, is fantastic, and you can tell he put so much thought into how things would work. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Verified Purchase This book in one word: gorgeous. The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. 1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson expands his Cosmere universe shared by The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn with a new standalone novel for everyone who loved The Princess Bride. #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson expands his Cosmere universe shared by The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn with a new standalone novel for everyone who loved The Princess Bride. 5/20/2023 0 Comments The mastery of love ruizThis simple ritual is the beginning of replacing resentment with unconditional love for those who have caused you suffering. As you do so, visualize all the negative feelings you have about these people and the events going in the trash as well. I pray that these people, and myself, can experience only love and peace going forward.” Just as you did in the preceding chapter's exercise when you forgave yourself, I want you to take the piece of paper, crumple it up, and throw it away. I also forgive myself for anything and everything related to these events. My wish is to see them through the eyes of unconditional love. I choose to forgive them so that their actions of the past can no longer affect my present. Next, read the following statement out loud: “I, _, am ready to forgive all those who inflicted pain and suffering on me in the past. Review the list of names and think briefly about the incidents involved.
